Holiday Sugar Cookies

1 c + 2 Tbsp shortening (or 2/3 c butter)
3 eggs
1 ½ c sugar
¾ c milk
1 ½ tsp vanilla
5 ¼ c flour
¾ tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder

Pre-heat oven to 400°F.

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and mix thoroughly. Blend in milk and vanilla, then add dry ingredients. Knead lightly, then roll out and cut into shapes with cookie cutters.

Optional: “Paint” cookies with a mixture of milk and food coloring.

Bake for about 6 minutes, or just until edges turn golden brown.

Time to make: 20-30 minutes (not including painting)
